Volunteering is an enriching experience and one of the most rewarding ways to help your community. At Paratransit Inc. we believe that one person can make a profound difference in the lives of others, a belief that is shared by our volunteers. Every day, these special volunteers assist seniors and disabled people throughout the community.

Benefits of volunteering include: meeting new people, making new friends, developing professional contacts and gaining a sense of personal satisfaction from helping others. More importantly, volunteers are vital to seniors, disabled and Paratransit staff. Do you have time to give? We need caring, compassionate people who want to make a difference in someone's life.

 

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY DESCRIPTIONS:

Mobility Management Call Center:
The Mobility Management Center is a one-stop resource center for callers to access transportation options in the region. As a volunteer call taker you would be responsible for answering phones, providing information to callers on a variety of transportation related inquiries. Light to moderate computer skills are required to perform the tasks expected. Good communication skills, ability to problem solve, access the internet, conduct trip planning using a variety of transportation agency tools available on the internet and through landline calls.
Travel Ambassador:
A Travel Ambassador provides one on one support for seniors while traveling on public transit (RT) buses and or light rail trains. Many seniors will not ride public transit for a variety of reasons. The most common reason is the fear of falling. Falls are the number one cause of death for seniors therefore many seniors are reluctant to ride public transit. We can provide the much needed support that will increase freedom and independence for the seniors in our community by assisting seniors with boarding, de-boarding, navigating and handling packages while riding public transit. We are looking for individuals to assist in the development and implementation of this program.
Volunteer Driver:
The Asian Community Center is a non-profit agency and partner of Paratransit Inc. ACC operates a volunteer driver program within a specified geographic service area. Volunteer drivers with ACCRides utilize vehicles provided by ACC (Asian Community Center) to provide trips to seniors and disabled persons who meet ACC’s qualifications for service. Volunteer drivers must be twenty-five years or older, possess a valid California driver’s license, and provide a three year driver history in the form of a DMV print out.
